Abstract

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is a medical treatment that increases atmospheric pressure, thereby enhancing oxygen delivery to wounds and peripheral tissues, such as those in the extremities. This mechanism promotes accelerated tissue repair and healing. However, prolonged or continuous HBOT carries a risk of treatment-related complications. The purpose of this study is to describe the care of patients undergoing HBOT. This is beneficial to medical personnel and scientists responsible for operating the hyperbaric chamber, as it aims to enhance knowledge and understanding of potential complications that may arise during HBOT. Additionally, it helps develop the ability to effectively address and resolve any situations that may occur. At the trauma department of Siriraj Hospital, scientists have the roles and responsibilities in the management and operation of the hyperbaric oxygen chamber, ensuring that the equipment is consistently maintained and fully functional. The chamber employed is designed for single-patient use, requiring the presence of both scientists and nursing staff to continuously monitor the patient throughout the treatment process. This vigilance ensures that the procedure is conducted safely and that optimal therapeutic outcomes are achieved.
