Solutions for Issues Encountered During Anesthesia Machine Preparation

Abstract
Anesthesia is one of the approaches used to suppress sensation in patients undergoing surgery or other essential medical procedures. Some procedures may induce pain or anxiety in patients, affecting their mental state and bodily functions, making it impossible to perform the surgery or procedure. Therefore, Anesthetics are therefore used to suppress sensation and responses to pain or stimuli during procedures, as well as to manage the patient's condition, ensuring convenience and safety for the surgeon. For high-risk surgeries requiring anesthesia, anesthesiologists must use an anesthesia machine for both inducing anesthesia and ventilatory support. To ensure safe operation, the anesthesia machine must be thoroughly prepared and its systems tested before being used on a patient. If the anesthesia machine test fails or an anomaly is found, the anesthesiologist must resolve the issue or coordinate with a technician (scientist) to troubleshoot it according to protocol. In situations where no support personnel, like a dedicated technician at the facility, it's critical and necessary for users to have basic troubleshooting knowledge. However, because there are many different models and brands of anesthesia machines, the testing methods and issues encountered during testing can vary. In some cases, if the problem isn't resolved successfully or is delayed, it might lead to the postponement of surgery or the procedure, negatively impacting both the patient and the practitioners. The purpose of this study is to enable anesthesiologists and technicians to appropriately, accurately, and quickly resolve such problems at a basic level. The authors summarized techniques and guidelines aiming to enhance the competency of anesthesiologists and technicians responsible for anesthesia machines.
