The Relationship between Self Esteem, Perceived Benefits of Health Promoting Behaviors, and Health Promoting Behavior of Older Adults at Nachack Sub District, Muang Phrae District, Phrae Province

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine health promoting behaviors, of older adults and the relationship between self-esteem, perceived benefits of health promoting behaviors and health promoting behaviors of older adults in which offered by Nachack Sub District, Muang Phrae District, Phrae Province. The sample size of 540 persons was identified by the n4Studies finite population average estmation program. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and Pearson’s product moment correlation. The result found that health promoting behaviors of older adults in the area of Nachack Sub District, Muang Phrae District, Phrae Province was at a high level ( =3.93, S.D.+1.07). When considering each individual part of health promoting behaviors, the highest mean score was nutrition ( =4.17, SD+.89), whereas the lowest mean score was exercise ( =3.34, SD+1.48). Self-esteem was positively significantly correlated with the health promoting behaviors of older adults at p=.01 (r=.47). The mean score of perceived benefits of health promoting behaviors was positively significantly correlatied with the health promoting behaviors of older adults at p=.01 (r=.86). In this study, it is suggested that an agency or health organization that may be concerned should have a policy, plan, and program in place promote health and exercise as suitable and good for older adults. Promoting health promoting behaviors of older adults must first improve the perceived benefits of health promoting behaviors and improved self-esteem for older adults as well.
