Abstract

This research aimed to develop the criteria and indicators for the success of the transcultural nursing service from the expert view. The Delphi technique was utilized with 25 experts; 10 from purposive sampling and 15 from the snowball technique. The research instrument was an interview guideline developed by the researcher. There were 2 phases of research procedures: (1) creating a research conceptual framework and interview guidelines from the literature reviewed, and (2) interviewing experts for 3 rounds. The first round was conducted in order to identify the  criteria and the indicators for the success of transcultural nursing care, and then the data were categorized and formed using a 5-item rating scale. In the second round, experts were asked to answer the questionnaires and the data was analyzed by the median and interquartile range. In the third round, the results were confirmed by expert agreements and analyzed again by the median and interquartile range with acceptable median ranked ≥ 3.50 and acceptable interquatile ranked <1.50. The results showed 4 criterions with 17 indicators for the success of transcultural nursing care items. The first criterion was nursing organization management  which comprised five indicators. The second criterion was the quality criteria for professional nurses which comprised  seven indicators. The third criterion was criteria for facilities which comprised two indicators. The last criterion was called the service quality criteria which comprised three indicators. The results suggested that nurse administrators should develop the organization structure and nursing staff manner to commit to a transcultural culture. Moreover, outcome performance should be identified clearly in order to monitor nursing outcomes.
