Abstract

This article aims to present the roles of nurses in caring males with androgen deficiency. Androgen deficiency is most commonly found in aging males due to a low level of testosterone,   which is the main cause of energy loss, mood swings, intellectual and cognitive impairment, insomnia, a decrease in bone mass density and muscular mass, and erectile dysfunction. Androgen decline is not easily treatable in Thailand; therefore, nurses must have knowledge and understand the important issues regarding the condition’s symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment. Moreover, as nurses’ important roles include teaching, consultation, health assessment, collaboration, monitoring and evaluation, and evidence-based practice, learning about nurses’ roles will help in improving the health and quality of life in males with androgen deficiency.
