This quasi-experimental research aimed to study the effects of an emergency care program on the knowledge and skills related to tourist emergency care among a single group of youths in the Flower Village of Klong 15, Khlong Yai Subdistrict, Nakhon Nayok Province. Purposive sampling was used to select 50 youths aged 12 - 15 years who lived in the Klong 15 sub - district area and were interested in participating in the continuous 6-week program. The research used pre - and post - test group designs, and the instruments used were: 1. a general information questionnaire, knowledge assessment, and first aid skills assessment in case of emergency, and 2. a first aid knowledge and skills enhancement program using Bandura's approach to learning theory and literature review. The program consisted of six activities, each lasting 60 minutes, once a week for six weeks. The content validity of the program was verified by three experts, and reliability was checked using Cronbach’s alpha, which equaled .80. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and paired t - test statistics.
The study found that after entering the program, the youth group’s knowledge and skills of first aid in case of emergency had increased from before entering the program at the .05 level of statistical significance.
In summary, the emergency program developed by the researcher to promote emergency care knowledge and skills effectively trained the youth group for tourist emergency situations.
These results could be extended to other age groups, used to inform people in the area, and develop knowledge sets for youth for sustainability.
