Abstract

หน่วยอุบัติเหตุและฉุกเฉิน เป็นด่านแรกที่ต้องให้บริการรักษาพยาบาลผู้บาดเจ็บจากอุบัติเหตุและภาวะเจ็บป่วยกะทันหันที่อยู่ในภาวะฉุกเฉินและวิกฤต ที่ต้องการความช่วยเหลืออย่างเร่งด่วน ในสถานการณ์ปัจจุบันพบว่า มีภัยพิบัติเกิดขึ้นหลากหลาย และหลายระดับความรุนแรง ไม่ว่าเป็นภัยพิบัติจากธรรมชาติ ภัยพิบัติสถานการณ์ทางการเมือง เหตุจลาจล วางระเบิดรวมถึงจากการเกิดโรคระบาดต่าง ๆ ซึ่งมีจำนวนและความถี่ที่เพิ่มสูงขึ้น หัวหน้าหน่วยอุบัติเหตุและฉุกเฉิน ซึ่งเป็นผู้บริหารระดับต้น ต้องมีความตื่นตัวและเตรียมความพร้อมเพื่อรับภาวะฉุกเฉินและอุบัติหมู่ต่าง ๆ อยู่เสมอ จึงต้องมีการส่งเสริมสมรรถนะพยาบาลหัวหน้าหน่วยอุบัติเหตุและฉุกเฉิน ให้เตรียมพร้อมรับกับเหตุการณ์ในปัจจุบัน

Head Nurses’ Competency in Emergency Department: An Aspect of Preparedness for Emergence and Mass Casualty Incidents 

The Emergency Department (ED) is the ‘Front Door’ to the hospital in providing nursing care and treatments to emergency and critically ill patients. At present, it is evidenced that there are various types and levels of disasters, such as natural disasters, political instability, terrorist attacks, crime, and epidemic outbreaks. Additionally, the numbers of these disasters tend to continually increase. In response to this challenge, head nurses, who serve as hospital administrators, must have awareness and preparedness for emergence and mass casualty incidents. Therefore, it is vital for head nurses to be prepared and promoted their competencies toward building optimal head nurses’ competency in this century.
