Abstract

โรคมะเร็งลำไส้ใหญ่และทวารหนักเป็นปัญหาสาธารณสุขที่สำคัญและเป็นสาเหตุของการเสียชีวิตในต่างประเทศรวมถึงประเทศไทยด้วย วิธีการรักษามะเร็งลำไส้ใหญ่และทวารหนักมีหลายวิธีขึ้นอยู่กับระยะของโรค การผ่าตัดเปิดทวารใหม่ (ostomy) เป็นวิธีการรักษาอย่างหนึ่งที่พบมาก และทำให้เกิดการเปลี่ยนแปลงกับผู้ป่วยทั้งด้านร่างกายและจิตใจ เกิดผลกระทบต่อคุณภาพชีวิตหลายด้าน ดังนั้น พยาบาลเฉพาะทางบาดแผล ออสโตมี และควบคุมการขับถ่ายไม่ได้  (Enterostomal Therapy Nurses) จึงเป็นผู้มีบทบาทสำคัญในการดูแลผู้ป่วยกลุ่มนี้ทั้งก่อนและหลังผ่าตัด เพื่อช่วยให้ผู้ป่วยและครอบครัวมีความรู้ ความเข้าใจเกี่ยวกับการปฏิบัติตนและการดูแลตนเองทั้งด้านร่างกายและจิตใจ ซึ่งจะส่งผลให้ผู้ป่วยมีคุณภาพชีวิตที่ดี บทความนี้จะนำเสนอเรื่องโรคมะเร็งลำไส้ใหญ่และทวารหนัก การรักษา ผลกระทบ และบทบาทพยาบาลเฉพาะทางบาดแผล ออสโตมี และควบคุมการขับถ่ายไม่ได้ในการดูแลผู้ป่วยที่ผ่าตัดเปิดทวารใหม่

Caring for Colorectal Cancer Patients Undergoing Ostomies: Roles of Enterostomal Therapy Nurses

Colorectal cancer is a major public health problem and a cause of death in many countries including Thailand. Treatments for colorectal cancer vary depending on the stage of the disease, while an ostomy is one of the most common. Undergoing an ostomy causes a patient physical and mental suffering as well as changing many aspects of quality of life. Enterostomal Therapy Nurses, therefore, have vital roles in pre and post operative care in helping patients and their families gain knowledge and understanding on how to carry themselves and care for their physical and mental health during the pre and post operation periods in order to improve their quality of life. This article presents information on colorectal cancer, as well as the treatment, effect and roles of Enterostomal Therapy Nurses in caring for  patients undergoing  ostomies.
