Effect of Practice of Surgical Safety Checklist of Surgery Team in Nong Bua Lamphu Hospital

This action research was aimed to compare rates of patient safety between 2013 and 2015 in Nong Bua Lamphu hospital. There were participants 44 personnel, who had worked in the operation room. Data collection on July 2016 with tools were questionnaires included of demographic data, practical of surgical safety checklist (alpha = 0.91) and the satisfaction of the surgical team (alpha=0.97). Descriptive statistics were used percentage, mean, standard deviation and inferential statistics were used Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple linear regression on SPSS program.
This results found that 44 participants mostly were nurses 61.4% (mean age 39 years), age group was 40 years old and over 47.7%, female 75.0%, graduated Bachelor degree 75.0%, status on current position for 5 years or more 79.5 % ( Χ= 11, SD 6.60), officiate in surgical team 5 years and over 79.5% ( Χ= 11, SD 6.50), had been informed about surgical team 79.5%, had been trained about patient safety 68.2%. Complication rate; Post operative death was decreased 66.1%, infected wounds 0.2% had not promt preparing patients before surgery 0.16%, factors related with surgical team satisfaction were age, period of current position ,officiate in surgical team and rate use of surgical safety checklist (p-value = 0.038, 0.008, 0.008 and 0.008 respectively). Moreover, it was found that overall factors could predicted surgical team satisfaction at 12.9% (R2adj= 0.129, p-value = 0.006), rate of use of surgical safety checklist (beta = 0.362) and related to surgical team satisfaction at 11.2% (R2adj= 0.112, p-value = 0.011), age (R2adj= 0.021, p-value = 0.038), period of current position (R2adj= 0.012, p-value = 0.008) respectively. This could explained that surgical team was older and had more experienced to recognize the patients safety was satisfied to use of surgical safety checklist improving to quality services with high safety, factors that influence surgical team satisfaction was experienced surgical team.
Conclusion: This result found that practical of surgical safety checklist could effect to patient safety was increasing.
