Effectiveness of Basic Life Support training workshop for the general public in NongKhai.

Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrests; OHCA cause high risk of death. Fast resuscitation increasing the survival rate of cardiac arrest. This quasi-experimental study aimed to assess the effectiveness of Basic Life Support training workshop among 6 groups of the people, 30 samples each group. The population were chosen using simple random sampling by draw lots. The training consists of 1) Watch video; Basic Life Support 2) Attend lectures and demonstration of Basic Life Support 3) Practice session including emergency medical service call 1669 and Basic Life Support skills and 4) Basic Life Support skills. Resuscitation performance was assessed from tests and analyzed using descriptive analysis and T-test scores to compare between pre-test and post-test performance.
The result indicated 59.4% were male, 37.8% aged between 20 -39 years old, experience of call 1669, watched video, basic resuscitation seen and attended lecture of BLS lectures of Basic 30.6%, 11.1%, 3.9% and 26.7% respectively. After training workshop, the mean score in all groups increased significantly (p< 0.001). The level of effectiveness is very high, except the G5 group has a moderate level. Project overview is very high and there are at least 2 groups with mean difference scores on knowledge, attitude, skills, and project aspects, with statistical significance at the level of p=0.003, p=0.044, p=0.016 and p=0.13, respectively. This training program should be applied to the general population to cover from school age to adulthood.
