The Competencies Indicators Development in Morality, Ethics and Professional Law for Nursing Students
Abstract
This Exploratory Factor Analysis research aimed to development and to confirm the components and indicators of morality, ethics and professional law among nursing students in Faculty of Nursing, Chaiyaphum Rajabhat University. Samples were 320 nurse lecturers and employers working in the hospitals under the training places for nursing students. Stratified sampling was used. Research instrument was a questionnaire of morality, ethics and professional law for nursing students including 62 items. Reliability of the questionnaire was tested using Cronbach’s alpha coefficient yielding a value of 0.92. Data were analyzed using content analysis, principal component factor analysis by principal factor analysis technique and varimax rotation.
The results showed that; 1) The components of community health nursing competencies of the nursing students included 3 dimensions namely, a) morality according to professional standards competencies (11 indicators), b) ethics (5 indicators), and c) professional law (2 indicators). 2) Confirmation of components by experts. The components of morality, ethics and professional law of the nursing students included 4 dimensions in the issue of propriety, feasibility, utility, and accuracy were at a high level. The findings from this study suggest that the indicators of morality, ethics and professional law should be applied in teaching and learning academic services. As well as student development to enhance the capacity of morality, ethics and professional law for nursing students.
