Stress, Factors Influencing Stress, and Stress Management of the Border Patrol Police 24

The purpose of this research was to examine to study stress levels, the factors related stress and coping strategies of the border patrol police 24. The sample were 92 people were working in the border patrol police 24 during the period of data collection in April-May 2019. Data were collected by questionnaire: stress test, factors related stress, and coping strategies. Analyzed content validity of the questionnaire was confirmed by three experts. The index of item-objective congruence were between 0.63-1.00 in all the questionnaire, the Cronbach’s Alpha Coefficient were 0.94, 0.89 in the questionnaire parts 3 and 4. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation and multiple regression.
The study results are as following 1) The stress of Border Patrol Police 24 was moderate level 2) Factors were positively related with stress at statistically: job advancement opportunity (r= .620, p<0.01), job relationship (r = .604, p<0.01), role factors (r = 0.597, p<0.01) and organizational factors (r = .385, p<0.01) and the factors that were able to predict stress were statistically significant were role factors (β = .362, p<0.05) and job advancement opportunity factors (β = .355, p<0.01) 3) Stress management: use problem-focused coping more often than reduced / emotional coping methods. Three of the most to management stress: accept the problems (x̄=3.88, SD 0.97), learning to develop yourself from past experiences (x̄=3.87, SD 0.89), being conscious (x̄=3.86, SD 0.94). Three of the least to management stress: to change the job (x̄=2.45, SD 1.14), smoke when feel stressed (x̄= 2.39, SD 1.41), move to another organization (x̄=2.37, SD 1.22).
From this study, the important influencing factors of stress are role factors and job satisfaction Therefore, Police commander should consider their role in the organization and support progress in the workplace. This will help to reduce the stress of border patrol police at the border patrol police station.
