The effectiveness of using “Offline EMS Medical Protocols of Public Health Region 8 B.E. 2564” in 1669 Udonthani Medical Command and Control Center at Emergency Medical Technician level and above.

Abstract

Emergency Medical Service System of Thailand has been continuously developed which is      important in helping patients to be safe and able to access the medical and public health services quickly and thoroughly. The first phase of the service focuses on timely taking patients to access     medical facility but quickly is not enough. Therefore, the next step focuses to improve the quality of patient care before and during referring even more. This is the reason for this guideline to be important in enhancing potential patient care and reduction of morbidity and mortality rate. The study was      performed using a pre-experimental research design. Objective to measure the effectiveness of using “Offline EMS Medical Protocols of Public Health Region 8 B.E. 2564” in 1669 Udonthani Medical      Command and Control Center at Emergency Medical Technician level and above.

Participants were four paramedics and eleven emergency medical technicians (EMT) in 1669 Udonthani Medical Command and Control Center. The pretest was performed then the guideline    training and the posttest was done. The analysis was the assessment on the scores of the theoretical examination for the Emergency Operations Certificate Level of emergency medical staff. Descriptive and paired dependent T-test was used for data analysis.

Results: The mean scores between pretest (mean 91.3, SD=7.6) and posttest (mean 103.7,SD=8.6) were significantly different (p<0.001).

Conclusions: The results imply that “Offline EMS Medical Protocols of Public Health Region 8 B.E. 2564”increase 25 criteria-based dispatches (CBD) knowledge and scores of the test that maybe         increased efficacy in patient care too.
