Evaluation of Health Workforce Position Analysis System in Krabi Provincial Public Health Office

Abstract

The study aimed to evaluate health workforce situation and analyze health workforce position of Krabi Provincial Public Health Office. This mixed methods study used quantitative and qualitative data. The key informants consisted of executive health managers. Research instruments included appreciative dialogue. Data collection for this study used in-depth interview and focus group discussion. The triangulation was used for the qualitative data validity. The descriptive statistics was used analysis for quantitative data and the content analysis was used for data analysis. As a result, there were human resource for health 2,967 people. Mostly, the human resource for health was civil servant 1,457 people (49.91%) and the Ministry of Public Health employee 1,147 people (39.29%). For health workforce position analysis using the health workforce position manual and criteria of the Ministry of Public Health that using the combination of health need method and health demand method were used for health workforce forecast. Krabi Provincial Health Office have health workforce 3,218 positions that can fulfill in 2,967 positions but there were vacancy 251 positions. The results showed that health workfore professionals were less than the criteria.
