Effects of a Self-Management Program Enhanced by Telenursing on Self-Management Behaviors and Blood Pressure Levels among Patients with Uncontrolled Hypertension in Yasothon Province

Abstract
A quasi-experimental two-group pretest–posttest design was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of a self-management program combined with tele-nursing on self-management behaviors and blood pressure levels among patients with uncontrolled hypertension. The sample consisted of patients with uncontrolled hypertension who were selected using simple random sampling and assigned to either the experimental group (n = 35) or the control group (n = 35). The experimental group received a self-management program combined with tele-nursing, including health education and follow-up via the LINE application, whereas the control group received usual nursing care. The intervention lasted for 12 weeks. Data were collected using a questionnaire with a reliability coefficient of 0.75. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, analysis of covariance (ANCOVA), and repeated measures ANCOVA, controlling for age, sex, and baseline self-management behavior scores. Results: After the intervention, the experimental group had significantly higher self-management behavior scores than the control group (F (1,64) = 238.92, p-value = 0.001). Regarding blood pressure outcomes, the experimental group demonstrated significantly greater reductions in both systolic and diastolic blood pressure compared with the control group (F (1,65) = 32.76, p-value = 0.001; F (1,65) = 7.35, p-value = 0.009, respectively). Recommendations: The application of this program should be promoted for patients with uncontrolled hypertension in primary care and community healthcare settings where communication technologies are accessible.
