Soft Power: Creative Learning Innovation in Education 5.0 Era Through the SHOW Process for Developing Student Activities Focusing on Skills and Competencies

Abstract

This article presents an approach to developing Soft Power skills among learners in the Education 5.0 era by emphasizing the integration of key 21st-century skills through the SHOW Process. This process comprises four main stages: Survey, which cultivates the ability to explore and collect data; Highlight & Design, aimed at enhancing analytical and decision-making skills; Operate, which fosters hands-on practice and real-world application; and Wrap-up, which focuses on developing communication and interpersonal skills while consolidating competencies to effectively connect knowledge with real-life contexts. A practical example of applying the SHOW Process in the Thai educational setting is illustrated through the “Phak Boong Saen Waan” (“Sweet Water Morning Glory”) activity, highlighting how Soft Power skills can be integrated into authentic learning experiences. In this example, learners develop various competencies such as lifelong learning through continuous data collection and analysis, creative thinking through designing and managing new approaches to morning glory activities, critical thinking through systematic evaluation and evidence-based decision-making, and the ability to connect and adapt knowledge to real-world situations in an appropriate manner. Additionally, the article provides recommendations for adapting these activities to local contexts, creating environments conducive to Soft Power skill development, offering regular feedback, and employing thorough evaluation and reflection methods. All of these are critical factors for supporting the comprehensive and sustainable development of learner skills and competencies in the Education 5.0 era.
