EFFECT OF THE RESILIENCE ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM ON STRESS OF STUDENTS PREPARING FOR UNIVERSITY ADMISSION EXAMINATION DURING THE PANDEMIC OF COVID-19

Abstract

               Objective: This quasi-experimental research is to study the effect of the resilience enhancement program on stress of students preparing for university admission examination during the pandemic of COVID-19.


               Methods: The sample consisted of 20 students in high school who studied in Nakhon Ratchasima Province, and who were divided into an experiment and a control group. The research instruments were: 1) a personal data form, 2) the stress questionnaire, 3) the resilience inventory, and 4) the resilience enhancement program.  Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, a dependent t-test, and an independent t-test.


               Results: 1) After receiving the program, students in the experimental group who prepared for university entrance examinations during the COVID-19 outbreak had lower mean stress scores than before receiving the Resilience Enhancement Program with statistical significance (p < .05). 2) Students preparing for university entrance examinations during the COVID-19 pandemic who received the Resilience Enhancement Program had lower mean stress scores than those who did not receive the program with statistical significance (p < .05).


               Conclusion: The research results indicate that The Resilience Enhancement Program can help students to cope with stressful situations. It should continue to be implemented to prepare students to anticipate the situation of preparing for university entrance examinations during the COVID-19 pandemic.
