THE EFFECTIVENESS OF RESILIENCE ENHANCING PROGRAM ON RESILIENCE QUOTIENTS AND DEPRESSIVE SYMPTOMS IN A SCHIZOPHRENIA PATIENTS CAREGIVER

Abstract
Objective: To determine the effectiveness of resilience enhancing program resilience quotients and depressive symptoms in a schizophrenia patients caregiver.
Methods: The purpose of this quasi-experiment research. The sample consisted of 40 caregivers, who were recruited using the inclusion criteria. Generator to the control and experimental groups, with 20 subjects in each group. The experimental group participated in the resilience enhancing program. The control group received routine care. The research instruments were the following: personal data questionnaire Beck Depression Inventory (RQ) and resilience enhancing program. The data analysis was performed through descriptive statistics and dependent t-test, independent t-test.
Results: 1) The mean score on the post-test participants in the experimental group after participating in the program was higher than the pre-test and mean score depressive symptoms after participating in the program was significantly lower than the pre-test. 2) The mean difference of the mean score resilience quotients after resilience enhancing program in the experimental group was higher than the control group and the mean score depressive symptoms of the experimental group was significantly lower than the control group.
Conclusion: The resilience enhancing program can increase resilience level and reduce depression among caregivers of schizophrenia patients in Huai Yot District, Trang Province.
