THE DEVELOPMENT OF INTEGRATTIVE PROGRAM ON RELAPSE PREVENTION AMONG PERSONS WITH AMPHETAMINE INDUCED PSYCHOTIC DISORDER
Main Article Content
Abstract
Objective: To develop and examine the effects of the integrative program on relapse prevention among persons with amphetamine induced psychotic disorder.
Methods: This developmental research study was divided into two phases: the program development phase and the program experimental testing phase. The eighty purposive samples were recruited from admitted amphetamine induced psychotic disorder patients. They were randomly assigned to either the experimental or control group (n = 40 in each group). The instruments included 1) the integrative program, 2) the relapse prevention intention scale, 3) the behavior drug prevention test, and 4) the questionnaire about the opinion on the program. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Chi-Square, t-test, and repeated measure ANOVA.
Results: 1) The Index of item-Objective Congruence of program was 1.00. The participants’ opinions on the program were at a high level. 2) The scores of relapse prevention intention and behavior drug prevention of the experimental group at posttest, four weeks, and 12 weeks period had a significantly higher than before receiving the program (p < .01). The experimental group had scores of relapse prevention intention and behavior drug prevention statistically significantly higher than control groups at posttest, four weeks, and 12 weeks period (p < .01). The relapse rate of the experimental group at 12 weeks was statistically significantly lower than those in the control group at the level of .05.
Conclusion: The integrative program could improve the relapse prevention intention and behavior drug prevention among persons with amphetamine induced psychotic disorder. This program should be an alternative to preventing relapse among persons with amphetamine induced psychotic disorder.
