Development of a Counseling Clinic Model for Medical Cannabis Extract Use at Ban Non Du Tambon Health Promoting Hospital, Mueang District, Amnat Charoen Province

Abstract

Objective of this research was to develop a model of counseling clinic for medical cannabis extract use at Ban Non Du Tambon Health Promoting Hospital, Mueang district, Amnat Charoen province. Samples for the development of the model were comprised of 12 persons selected with the purposive sampling method. Another group of samples used in the evaluation of the model were 56 patients who attended the counseling clinic for medicinal cannabis extract use and were recruited using simple random sampling technique. Research tools used for the data collection were an interview guide and a questionnaire. The data were analyzed using frequencies, percentages, means, standard deviations, and paired t-test.

The findings showed that: patients were interested in receiving the services from the model counseling clinic medical cannabis extract use. Physicians must diagnose and prescribe medical cannabis extracts while pharmacists must be the ones who provided them to patients. Services provided in the model clinic included 1) screenings and counseling, 2) referral for diagnosis and treatment of medical cannabis extracts, and
3) follow-ups. The model services helped patients receiving reliable information and services that met their needs. The patients’ satisfaction was at a high level. 

            It was suggested from this study that clinic for medical cannabis extract use can be provided at the subdistrict (Tambon) level to improve accessibility of the medical cannabis extracts.
