Factors Associated with Mild Cognitive Impairment among Older Adults in Mueang District, Phayao Province

This research aimed to study mild cognitive impairment among older adults and to determine factors associated with mild cognitive impairment among older adults in Mueang district, Phayao province.
Methods: Samples consisted of 220 older adults attending Mae Sai Health Promoting Hospital in Mueang District, Phayao Province from January to February 2024. The samples were selected using simple random sampling technique based on inclusion criteria. Assessment tools in this study were demographic data, activities of daily living (ADL), and Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA). Validity and reliability of these instruments were approved prior to the data collection. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Chi-square tests and Spearman's rank correlation coefficients.
Results: The study indicated that 79.5 percent of 220 older adults had mild cognitive impairment. Factors significantly related to mild cognitive impairment among older adults in Phayao province included age, income, education level and activities of daily living (p<0.05).
Conclusions: The results of this study could be applied as basic information for caring for mild cognitive impairment among older adults in Mueang district, Phayao province.
