Abstract

This study aimed to determine the rate of receiving dental treatment among pregnant women attending antenatal care (ANC) at the King’s Birthday Celebrations 80 Years Phanomdongrak Hospital and to identify associated factors. Data were obtained from the medical records of 189 pregnant women who had their first ANC visit at the hospital between October 2022 and March 2024 and received dental treatment between October 2022 and November 2024. The associations between various factors and receiving dental treatment were analyzed using the Chi-square test, with Fisher’s exact test applied when assumptions were violated, while Pearson’s correlations were used to assess relationships between planned number of dental visits during pregnancy and the actual number of visits. The results showed that 35.4% of pregnant women received dental treatments. Factors significantly associated with receiving dental treatments included gestational age at the first ANC visit, the number of ANC visits at the hospital, receiving dental examination during pregnancy, receiving dental appointments during pregnancy, and the presence of partner blood test results (p<0.05). No significant correlation was found between the planned number of dental visits during pregnancy and the actual number of visits attended during pregnancy. The results provided a foundation for further in-depth quantitative and qualitative research and for developing programs aimed at increasing dental service utilization among pregnant women.
