The Effects of Childbirth Preparation and Intrapartum Care for Promoting Natural Birth on Fear, Pain, and Childbirth Experience among Women Giving Birth at Yasothon Hospital, Yasothon Province

This research is a quasi-experimental study conducted with term pregnant women who gave birth at Yasothon Hospital between March 2023 and February 2024. It is a comparative study between the group receiving childbirth preparation and nursing care to promote natural childbirth and control group. The sample size consists of 66 participants, divided into two groups of 33 each. The samples were selected through purposive sampling based on the criteria for the sample group.
The findings showed that the group receiving childbirth preparation and intrapartum care aimed at promoting natural childbirth demonstrated a significantly better ability to cope with labor pain compared to the control group, with mean scores of 5.55 and 7.06, respectively (p<0.05). Although the experimental group reported a higher mean perceived pain score during labor than the control group (6.14 vs. 5.19, p<0.05), they were better able to cope and pain management. In addition, women who received childbirth preparation and supportive care for natural childbirth exhibited significantly lower levels of fear of childbirth compared to the control group, with mean scores of 77.82 and 102.21, respectively (p<0.05). These findings suggest that the experimental group had a more positive perception of the childbirth experience than the control group.
