ปัจจัยทำนายภาวะซึมเศร้าในนักศึกษาพยาบาล: หลักฐานเชิงประจักษ์จากสถาบันการศึกษาเอกชนแห่งหนึ่ง

Abstract

This survey research aimed to investigate predictive factors of depression among nursing students in a private educational institution. Samples consisted of 230 nursing students. Research instrument was a questionnaire assessing factors influencing depression. Data were analyzed using percentages, means, standard deviations, and multiple regression analyses.

Results revealed that most of the nursing students had a very low level of depression (51.7%). Depression was positively correlated with stress (r=0.650). Significant correlations were found between depression and academic factors (r=0.396), experiences of bullying and cyberbullying (r=0.389), social and environmental factors (r=0.368), interpersonal relationships (r=0.366), smartphone use (r=0.290), and family factors (r=0.282) at p=0.05. Furthermore, the factors including experiences of bullying and cyberbullying (β=0.452), academic factors (β=0.276), stress (β=0.204), and social and environmental factors (β=−0.162) all could significantly predict about 39.0% of the variance in depression among nursing students at 0.05 significance level. The findings can be used as baseline information for developing guidelines to promote mental health, as well as to effectively prevent, and reduce risk factors for depression among nursing students.
