Abstract

This study had three objectives: 1) to examine the state of human capital among early childhood children in preschool development centers in Bangkok; 2) to develop innovations promoting human capital for early childhood children; and 3) to pilot the developed innovations. A mixed-methods research design was employed, utilizing interviews, focus groups, and assessment forms. The sample consisted of district office personnel, school directors, kindergarten teachers, childcare teachers, and early childhood children in preschool development centers. Qualitative data were analyzed using content analysis, while quantitative data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, standard deviation, and t-test.

The findings revealed that: 1) preschool development centers and kindergartens adopted innovations in diverse ways, varying in type, format, and intensity of implementation. The innovations targeted five developmental domains: gross motor skills, fine motor skills and cognition, language comprehension, language expression, and self-help and social skills, delivered through play-based activities. 2) The human capital promotion innovation for early childhood children encompassed seven dimensions: health development, emotional development and interaction, educational development, self-direction and self-regulation skills, growth mindset and creative thinking, moral and ethical development, and active citizenship. The overall quality assessment of the innovation was rated at a high level (equation=4.31, SD=0.14). The training innovation included storytelling and toy-based play to promote all seven dimensions of human capital. 3) Following the intervention, early childhood children's mean scores were significantly higher than pre-intervention scores at the 0.05 level of statistical significance.
