Competency of Clinical Nursing Practice at the Obstetric Clinic: The Relationship between Students’ Evaluation and Clinical Instructors’ Evaluation

บทคัดย่อ

The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship students’ evaluation and teachers’ evaluation of nursing clinical practice competency in obstetric clinic. Subjects were 87 nurse students who studied in the third year of graduate from Bachelor degree of Nursing, Ramathibodi School of Nursing, Faculty of Medicine, Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University in 2009. Data were collected by using the practical evaluation form of Maternal-Newborn Nursing and Midwifery Practicum 1, Bachelor degree of Nursing, Ramathibodi School of Nursing, and analyzed by mean, standard deviation, and Spearman Rank Correlation. The results were found that the overall of competency students’ evaluation and practice in nursing and midwife domain at 1, 2 and 3 time were significantly related to teachers’ evaluation, whereas the fourth time of evaluation was not. The students’ evaluation in domain of management were significantly related to teachers’ evaluation at the fourth time only, whereas the other times of evaluations were not. The students’ evaluation in domain of communication and relationship at 2 and 4 time were significantly related to teachers’ evaluation, but this correlation was not showed at the first and third time. The results of this study indicated that the informations giving, suggestions of teachers and continuous self-evaluation of students during practice helped to promote perception competency of students with actuality which were a basis of self development.
