Abstract

Entomophthoromycosis is a tropical fungal infection rarely found in Thailand. It usually limits to subcutaneous tissue, rarely involves other systemic organs. The diagnosis is based on the identification of the organism directly by histological assessment and positive microbiological culture. The treatment option includes ketoconazole, itraconazole and potassium iodide. This study reported a case of 77 year-old Thai male with gradual onset of subcutaneous indurated plaque at the left thigh. He worked as a farmer in northeastern area of Thailand. Histology demonstrated non-septate hyphae in the dermis. He was treated with oral itraconazole. Partially improvement of the disease was observed during the monthly follow-up.
