Common mucocutanoeous toxicities from novel cancer targeted therapy

The mucocutanoeus toxicities were commonly found in patients treated with chemotherapy or radiation therapy. The targeted therapy aims to destroy the malignant cells directly at the molecular level of abnormal cellular changes and preserve normal cellular organs. Erlotinib, Cetuximab and Imatinib mesylate are the example of available drugs used nowadays as standard treatment in colorectal carcinoma, non-small cell lung cancer and head and neck cancer. The common toxicities from this type of treatment uniquely related to skin and mucous membrane.
