A process of caring for pediatric patients with COVID-19 receiving home isolation is a new treatment approach of Thai public health system during the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, a conceptual development of changing a house into a hospital for disseminating to clinical practice is needed. Family is a crucial part of promoting care for those pediatric patients. Application of a family-centered care approach could integrate a theory to practice for enhancing ultimate nursing outcomes of pediatric patients with COVID-19. The participation of parents as a partnership in every step of pediatric patient care, from a diagnosis decision-making, treatment planning with a care team, to continuous home treatment, coordination of care and data transfer to a team, would lead to a goal achievement of treatment and promotion of pediatric patient’s health development. The lesson learned from a case study of pediatric patient care applying a family-centered approach is to maximize learning and understanding the differences of each family as to establish the process of caring for pediatric patients with COVID-19, which, finally, could lead to the advantage of care for pediatric patients with other severe infectious diseases.
