ถอดบทเรียนความสำเร็จขั้นสูงสุดในวิชาชีพการพยาบาล ของ ศาสตราจารย์ ดร.วีณา จีระแพทย์

Abstract

บทคัดย่อ: การศึกษานี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ1) ศึกษาชีวประวัติและผลงานของศาสตราจารย์ ดร.วีณา จีระแพทย์ และ 2) ปัจจัยที่ทำให้ประสบความสำเร็จขั้นสูงสุดในวิชาชีพการพยาบาล แหล่งข้อมูลประกอบด้วยเอกสารที่เกี่ยวข้อง และกรณีศึกษาคือ ศาสตราจารย์ ดร.วีณา จีระแพทย์ เครื่องมือในการศึกษาคือประเด็นการสัมภาษณ์ที่ผู้ศึกษาพัฒนาขึ้นเพื่อสัมภาษณ์กรณีศึกษา วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลด้วยวิธีการวิเคราะห์เนื้อหา

ผลการศึกษาพบว่า 1) ศาสตราจารย์ ดร.วีณา จีระแพทย์เริ่มชีวิตราชการโดยบรรจุ เป็นอาจารย์พยาบาล ได้เป็นผู้บริหารองค์กรวิชาชีพในระดับชาติและนานาชาติ ได้รับโปรดเกล้าฯ ให้ดำรงตำแหน่งสูงสุดของข้าราชการพลเรือนสายวิชาการ ศาสตราจารย์ระดับ 11 ถือเป็น คนแรกของพยาบาลไทย โดยมีผลงานทางวิชาการหลากหลาย อาทิ นวัตกรรมการเรียน การสอน งานนิพนธ์ตำราและหนังสือ งานวิจัยโดยเฉพาะสาขาทารกแรกเกิด ผลงานเป็นที่ ยอมรับของสหสาขาวิชาชีพ และองค์กรวิชาชีพที่เกี่ยวข้องทั้งระดับชาติและนานาชาติ และ 2) ปัจจัยที่ทำให้ประสบความสำเร็จขั้นสูงสุดในวิชาชีพการพยาบาลประกอบด้วย (1) การอบรม เลี้ยงดูในเยาว์วัยที่ส่งเสริมให้เป็นคนมีความคิดวิเคราะห์ และมีความเป็นนักวิจัย (2) คุณลักษณะ ส่วนบุคคล เป็นผู้มีจิตใฝ่รู้ค้นหาคำตอบอยู่เสมอ มีเป้าหมายในการทำงานที่ชัดเจน มีความรัก ในเพื่อนมนุษย์และวิชาชีพ (3) การมีหลักธรรมนำชีวิต ใช้หลักอิทธิบาทสี่ในการดำเนินชีวิต และสร้างงาน (4) การมีจังหวะก้าวแต่ละขณะของชีวิตที่มีมิตรและเครือข่ายหนุนเนื่องกันและกัน และ (5) การมีคู่ชีวิตที่ดีช่วยเสริมเติมเต็มชีวิตและการงาน

Abstract: Objectives: To (1) study the biography and accomplishments of Professor Dr Veena Jirapaet and (2) identify the factors leading to the highest success in her nursing career.

Design: The sources of data were relevant documents and a case study of Professor Dr Veena Jirapaet’s career. The case study was conducted by means of a structured interview designed by the researcher. The data were examined using the content analysis method.

Results: The significant findings of the study are as follows. First, Professor Dr Veena Jirapaet began her civil service employment as a full-time teacher of nursing. Later in her career, she was promoted to executive positions in both national and international professional councils. She became the first Thai nurse to be appointed, by Royal Consent, to Class 11 Professorship, the highest position in the academic track of the Thai civil service system. Professor Dr Veena Jirapaet’s numerous publications included learning-teaching innovations, books, textbooks, and research studies, particularly on neonates. Her works have not only enjoyed multidisciplinary recognition, but have also been treasured by relevant national and international professional communities. Second, Professor Dr Veena Jirapaet’s highest achievement in her nursing profession revealed the following factors as playing an important part in one’s career success: (1) child upbringing, which must foster critical thinking and a research mind; (2) personal enthusiasm for knowledge, willingness to work in search of answers, clear working goals, and love for humanity and the profession; (3) abidance by moral standards and application of the four Buddhist principles of success (namely passion, industry, concentration, and evaluation) to personal and professional life; (4) presence, in every phase of life, of friends or networks for mutual support; and (5) a helpful spouse who helps fulfill both private and professional goals.
