Effects of sex education learning management using LOVE Model and self-efficacy theory to enhance sexual health literacy of junior high school students

Abstract

This research aimed to study the effectiveness of organizing sex education using the LOVE Model and self-efficacy theory to enhance sexual health literacy of junior high school students. This quasi-experimental research employed a pretest-posttest design with two groups. The sample group consisted of 80 junior high school students from Nawamintrachinuthit Horwang Nonthaburi School, in the 2023 academic year, divided equally into experimental and comparison group (40 students each). The research tool included sex education learning management model using the LOVE Model and self-efficacy theory, a sexual health literacy test, and a satisfaction questionnaire. The experiment was conducted over eight weeks, with one 50-minute session per week. The comparison group received standard sex education content for grade 10. Data were analyzed using percentage, mean, standard deviation, paired t-test and independent t-test. The results showed that the experimental group have significantly higher sexual health literacy after the experiment compared to before and also higher than the comparison group, with statistical significance at the 0.05 level. Additionally, the experimental group reported the highest level of satisfaction with the sex education learning management model using the LOVE Model and self-efficacy theory.
