Abstract

Countries round the globe are facing with unhealthy behaviors of the populations related to diseases. Unhealthy behaviors have impacts on health and well-being of the individuals, and result in increasing mortality rates. However, these unhealthy behaviors can be changed. Many theories and models have been used to explain health behaviors at the individual, interpersonal, and community levels. The article presents Ecological Model and its application that explain individual health behaviors as interactions between individuals and their environmental factors at various levels. It helps understand health behaviors and to develop interventions addressing factors influencing health behaviors more effectively.
