Correlation of Emotional Control and Quality of Life in Adolescents with Cancer

Abstract

              This correlation research aimed to study  the correlation between emotional  control  and quality of life  in adolescents with cancer. The samples consisted  of  adolescents age 10-19 years old, who had  been diagnosed cancer. Thirty adolescents were selected by purposive sampling method, department in Jun 2019. The research instruments were Emotional Control Questionnaire (CVI =0.93, Reliability = 0.70) and Questionnaire and Quality of Life Questionnaire (CVI =0.95, Reliability = 0.83). Data of study was analyzed with descriptive statistics and Pearson  Product Moment Correlation.


             Results were showed that adolescents  with cancer  hed average age 12.57 years. The mean score on  Emotional Control was 47.40 (SD=8.61) and the mean score of quality of life was 172.87  (SD = 19.17). The score of Emotional Control was significant positive correlation on quality of life, overall (r =0.46, p < 0.01). Nurses should  have the strategies  to promote their emotional control and increase quality of life for adolescents with cancer.
