Effects of Using Preparation program by Flipped Classroom before Undertaking Nursing Practicum on Stress and Assertiveness for Nursing Professional Characteristic of Nursing Students

This one group, pre-posttest, quasi-experimental study aimed to compare stress levels and nursing professional characteristic assertive behaviors before and after attending the readiness preparation program with Flipped classroom prior to practicum in Nursing Care of Persons with Health Problems Practicum 1 Subject of the second year nursing students in the academic year 2018, Boromarajonani College of Nursing, Changwat Nonthaburi. The experimental instrument was the readiness preparation program with Flipped classroom. It was developed by the researcher and tested for the content validity by five experts with IOC 0.92. The research instruments included 1) stress questionnaires modified from Sarawut Sritan and Malinee Boonkerd (2010) with IOC 0.70 and Cronbach’s alpha coefficient .96, and 2) nursing professional characteristic assertive behavior questionnaires modified from Natenapa Kabmanee and colleagues (2017) with IOC 0.92 and Cronbach’s alpha coefficient 0.88, respectively.
The results of the study revealed that: 1) Comparing the mean scores of stress levels before and after attending the readiness preparation program with Flipped classroom revealed that the mean scores of stress levels after attending the readiness preparation program were significantly decreased (p < .05). 4) The mean scores of nursing professional characteristic assertive behaviors before attending the readiness preparation program with Flipped classroom in overall were at the moderate level ( = 3.34 SD = 0.86). 2) Comparing the mean scores of nursing professional characteristic assertive behaviors before and after attending the readiness preparation program with Flipped classroom revealed that the mean scores of nursing professional characteristic assertive behaviors after attending the readiness preparation program were no significant increase.
