The influencing factors on health-related quality of life of patients with coronary artery disease after percutaneous coronary intervention
Keywords:
Health-related quality of life, Coronary artery disease, Percutaneous coronary interventionAbstract
This descriptive predictive research aimed to examine factors influencing the health-related quality of life of patients with coronary artery disease after percutaneous coronary intervention. The subjects consisted of 99 patients with coronary artery disease after percutaneous coronary intervention within 4-12 months came for follow-up in the outpatient department of the Ministry of Public Health in Health Region 5. They were purposive sampling according to the inclusion criteria. Data were collected using personal information questionnaire, Health literacy questionnaire, The MOS 36 item short form health survey (SF-36) questionnaire, Anxiety Assessment Scale (GAD-7), and the Social Support Questionnaire. The data were collected from February to April 2024 and analyzed using descriptive statistics and multiple linear regression with enter regression.
The research results revealed that anxiety, social support, and health literacy influencing factors could explain variance in health-related quality of life of patients with coronary artery disease after percutaneous coronary intervention by 71.4% (R2adj = 0.714, P < .01). Social support (β = .396, P < .01) had a stronger influence on health-related quality of life than health literacy (β = .362, P < .01) and anxiety (β = -.217, P < .01)
The study suggests that nursing interventions should be developed based on social support, health literacy, and anxiety reduction to increase the health-related quality of life of patients with coronary artery disease after percutaneous coronary intervention.
