HIV infection is a major health concern due to its annual increase infection rates. HIV infected mothers tend to experience serious psycho-social distress that lead to suffering and psychological threat. Along with low self-esteem, despondent, and inadequate social support, they usually feel hopeless, lonely, and vulnerable. Eventually, inappropriate self care will be the result. It is realized that poor self care always encourages disease progression. Certainly, newborns of these women are affected by their mothers’ negative self care, thus increasing the risk of mother-tochild infection. Therefore, Approach to Health Promotion by Vipassana Meditation Techniques is one of the methods that can enhance their self-esteem. Enhancing self-esteem as spiritual care in turn enables HIV infected mothers to achieve appropriate self care and attain good quality of life.
