This study was a quasi-experimental research which aimed at examining the effects of behavioral modification for hand-foot-mouth disease prevention among the parents of pre-school children in the child development center at Ban Kruat District, Buriram Province. Two groups were recruited; an experimental group and a control group consisting 38 parents of pre-school children in each group. The health education program was implemented for 12 week. The learning activities included lectures, video, demonstrations, model, hand wash training for parents, compliments, reward, exchange of experience, advice on appropriate action to prevent hand-footmouth disease and giving handbook and recording their prevention behavior, sending the letters two times for motivation. Data were analyzed and expressed in percentages, means, and standard deviations. Paired t-tests, and independent
t-tests were also used.

The results revealed that mean score knowledge of the experimental group on prevention was significantly increased, and higher than the control group (p-value < 0.001). Mean scores of perceived severity, perceived probability, perceived self-efficacy, perceived response efficacy, and behavior for prevention were significantly increased (p-value < 0.001), and higher than the control group (p-value < 0.05).
