Factors Affecting Herbal Uses in Primary Health Care

บทคัดย่อ

This analytic cross-sectional study was to investigate factors affecting the herbal uses in primary health care among people in Leam Tanod subdistrict, Khun Khanun district, Phatthalung province. The data were collected between January and February, 2011. Of these, 190 samples were systematically selected. The questionnaires were used togather information regarding to herbal uses. Descriptive statistics were used to present characteristic factors. In addition, the multiple logistic regresrevealed that people who had illness were more likely to use herb in primary health care about 2 times (OR: 2.05, 95%CI: 1.05 – 3.99). People who had herbal uses in their family were more likely to use herb in primary health care about 2 times (OR: 2.29, 95%CI: 1.23 – 4.29). As well, people who had employee/sale were more likely to use herb in primary health care about 5 times (OR: 5.14, 95%CI: 1.43 – 18.57), and housewife were more likely to use herb in primary health care about 8 times (OR: 8.13, 95%CI: 1.76 – 37.62), respectively. The results suggested that local vegetables and herbs should be promoted in order to use in family. In addition, the academic knowledge should be provided and encouraged in herbal uses among people who had illness appropriately, to promote the herbal uses in primary health care in rural areas.
