บทคัดย่อ

Mixed methods research is a research design that integrates quantitative and qualitative approaches. This design logically combines qualitative and quantitative methods to collect and analyze data in a single study. The concept of this research design is based on a rationale of pragmatism.

The concept of mixed methods research was developed in 1959. The evidence supported that public health researchers utilized this method since 1992. The pattern of mixed method research consists of 4 types as follows: 1) Triangulation design, 2) Embedded design,
3) Explanatory design, and 4) Exploratory design. Each design includes subtypes that are appropriate for specific research questions and research objectives. Therefore, researchers should carefully consider the mixed methods design based on research questions and research objectives.
