Occupational Health Hazards and Health Status Related to Risk among Aging Workers in the Seafood Canning Industry

บทคัดย่อ

This descriptive study aimed to examine occupational health hazards and health status related to risk among 285 aging workers in the seafood canning industry in Songkhla Province.  Data were collected using the interview form and the observation form of working posture. The results showed that the important occupational health hazards perceived by the subjets were ergonomic and psychosocial hazards. Working posture based on observations required an action for improvement (73.33%). Concerning health status related to risk, the most common ailments possibly related to exposure to occupational health hazards included neck/shoulder/forearm pain (57.89%) and back/lumbar pain (47.02%), while work-related injuries during the past three months was 5.96 percent.  Health related lifestyle needed to be improved was rest and stress management. These results indicate occupational health team should recognize the importance of establishing a plan to enhance awareness and disseminate health risk information. Health promotion program to reduce occupational health risk among ageing workers should also be formulated.
