Abstract
Objective: To transliterate and analyze herbal medicines used in the Sabba-Lakkhana-Sabbaguna Lae Mahaphikad Scripture
Methods: The transliteration of Sabba-Lakkhana-Sabbaguna Lae Mahaphikad Scripture in Tumlavejchasad-Chablubluang of King Rama V book II of the Department of Fine Arts Library was transliterated and translated from Khmer letters to Thai letter. These were approved by three linguist experts. Herbal medicines were categorized according to drug matters of Thai Traditional Pharmacy. The analysis of herbal medicine was approved by five Thai traditional practitioner expertises.
Results: The transliteration demonstrated 3 Khmer phases and 10 markers in the scripture. The ancient letters to current Thai letters were transliterated e.g. kot (โกฎ) was changed to kot (โกฐ). Besides, this scripture was written in 1871. The results of herbal medicine analysis revealed that 638 types of herbal medicines were found and were likewise categorized into 3 groups: herb matter 586 types, animal matter 21 types, and mineral matter 31 types.
Conclusion: The transliteration of Sabba-Lakkhana-Sabbaguna Lae Mahaphikad Scripture reviews the history of the scripture. Moreover, the analysis of herbal medicines can help to preserve and develop academic areas of Thai traditional medicine and also benefit for learning into clinical practice.
