Development of a Course Administration Manual for Course Administrators Using the SELECx Learning Management System at the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University

Abstract
Objective: (1) To investigate problems encountered in course administration within the SELECx learning management system, (2) to develop a course administration manual for the system, and (3) to evaluate the appropriateness of the developed manual.
Materials and Methods: Problems related to course administration were explored through semi-structured interviews with course administrators. The collected data were analyzed to define the scope and content of the manual. Subsequently, a course administration manual was developed, and an appropriateness evaluation form based on a rating scale was constructed. Instrument quality was examined through content validity assessment and reliability testing prior to data collection. The finalized tools were administered to 71 course administrators. Data were analyzed using qualitative content analysis, mean, and standard deviation.
Results: Findings indicated that course administrators primarily experienced difficulties in understanding how to use the system’s tools and lacked continuity in system utilization. Based on these findings, a video-based course administration manual was developed. Each video was designed to be no longer than four minutes in order to ensure concise and easily comprehensible content. The manual covered four activities of course management: course management, user management, content management, and monitoring of usage data. The overall evaluation of the manual’s appropriateness was at the highest level (mean = 4.89). All evaluated aspects—content, language use, format, and applicability—were also rated at the highest level.
Conclusion: The developed video-based course administration manual was found to be highly appropriate for implementation as a practical guideline to support personnel in effectively managing courses within the SELECx system.
