Siriraj Medical Journal Co-Hosts National Forum on Advancing Thai Medical Journals to Global Standards

Siriraj Medical Journal (SMJ), Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, was honored to participate in and co-host the national forum entitled “Enhancing the Quality and Impact of Thai Medical Journals Indexed in Scopus” on 26 May 2026 at K102 Auditorium, Chalermphrakiat Building, Faculty of Science, Mahidol University, Phayathai Campus, Bangkok.

The forum was jointly organized by Mahidol University in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), the Thai-Journal Citation Index Centre (TCI Centre), the Thailand Science Research and Innovation (TSRI), and the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital.

The event was presided over by Professor Dr. Supachai Pathumnakul, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation. Distinguished speakers and participants included Professor Dr. Worapong Manuskiet, Vice President for Academic and Academic Services, Mahidol University; Professor Dr. Thawatchai Akrawiputh, Executive Editor of Siriraj Medical Journal and Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the Medical Association of Thailand (JMAT); Professor Dr. Narongrit Sombatsompop, Head of the Thai-Journal Citation Index Centre (TCI Centre); alongside editors, researchers, faculty members, and stakeholders from across Thailand’s academic publishing community.

The forum served as a collaborative platform to exchange perspectives and strengthen cooperation in advancing the quality, impact, transparency, and sustainability of Thai medical journals indexed in international databases such as Scopus. The discussions reflected a shared commitment among universities, governmental agencies, and academic organizations to foster a stronger research and publishing ecosystem and to elevate Thai scholarly contributions onto the global stage.
