Quantitative study of erythrocyte glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase

-Abstract
The method and result of erythrocyte glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) assay in Thai subjects are presented. In 266 males the distribution of G6PD values is obviously bimodal but not absolutely separated into two groups. The mean and the standard deviation of enzyme values in 191 probably normal males are 397 and 113 units respectively; in 60 probably deficient males the values are 51 and 37 respectively. Because the genotypes of our female subjects are not known, a classification into normal and deficient groups is impossible, and so also a statistical analysis.
