Abstract

         This study is a quasi-experimental study with two group pretest-posttest design. The objectives were to study the effect of dental health education program with Facebook on knowledge, self- efficacy and practices in dental health care among junior high school students of Municipal I Sangkawit School, Trang Province between November and December 2017. The subjects were 51 Grade 7 students, divided into 25 experimental groups and 26 control groups. The experimental group received a program of dental health through Facebook media while the control group received a 5-week oral health education program. Data were collected by questionnaire, dental health care knowledge tests and dental examination. Data were analyzed using percentage, mean, standard deviation, Paired t-test, Wilcoxon, Matched-pairs signed rank test, Independent t-test and Mann-Whitney U test.

          The results showed after the experiment among the students in control group. In experiment group, the mean scores of knowledge about dental health education. Both groups were significantly different before and after the experiment. In experiment group, the mean scores of knowledge of self-efficacy. The abilities for dental health care between before and after experiment were no statistically significant differences, but there was significantly different in the control group. In experiment group, the mean score of knowledge of practice in dental health care were significant differences for self-efficacy in dental health care between before and after experiment, but there were no statistical differences in the control group. In conclusion, Facebook media is one of other channel that affects knowledge, self-efficacy, and practices of dental health care for students.
