Factor Related to Dental Anxiety of Working Group Aged 35 - 44 Years in Area of Responsibility of Kuhatai Health Promoting Hospital, Rattaphum District, Songkhla Province

Abstract

A descriptive cross - sectional study aimed to assess dental anxiety and factors related to dental anxiety of working aged 35 - 44 years among 206 subjects in area of responsibility Kuhatai health promoting hospital, Rattaphum district, Songkhla province . This study was conducted using questionnaire interviews. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics using Chi-square test, Fisher’s exact test and Pearson’s product - moment correlation coefficient.

          The results showed 61.2% of subjects was female, 52.4% of them aged was 40 - 44 years old, 48.1 % of occupation was farmer, 51.9 % of income/month was 5,001 - 10,000 baht, and 76.2 % had dental treatment and 43.2% had knowledge for dental health care at moderate level. The enabling factors for environment at dental clinic and dentist were 57.3% at moderate level. The reinforcing factors from family and peers and  

advisement from health personnel were 52.9% at easy accessible and anxiety for dental treatment was 54.4% at moderate level. The associated factors with dental health anxiety were income, knowledge of dental health care, environment, dentists or dental hygienists, family and peers, and advisement from health personnel were significant at 0.05.
