This study aimed to 1) develop programs to increase Yok-KraDan capability, 2) compare the Yok-KraDan performance before and after using the program, and 3) assess the satisfaction with using the program. The subjects were 38 selected students and 5 Thai massage instructors. The tools used in the study were interview forms, group discussion guidelines, a program for enhancing performance of Yok-KraDan, a program quality evaluation form, a performance record form and satisfaction assessment forms. Data analysis was performed by content analysis, frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation and t-test.
The results showed that the problems with inadequate physique, non-optimum body weight, deformed fingers, and unhealthy muscles resulted in not being able to practice Yok-KraDan for long Therefore, we designed a program to increase the performance of 15 Yok-KraDan exercises by practicing 30-45 minutes each time, 3 times a week for 4 consecutive weeks. We found that there was a statistically significant association between the average duration of practicing Yok-KraDan and the amount of time that elapses before the body begins to tremble (p< 0.01). Our program for enhancing performance of Yok-KraDan practice is an alternative for Thai traditional medicine students who can raise the board under the threshold. This program can also assist students who want to change their method of practice from the old format.
