This participatory action research project aimed to develop a participatory learning model to enhance the identity of humanistic health care among students at the Sirindhorn College of Public Health, Chonburi (SCPHC) based on Deming concept. The research participants composed of three groups: researchers, developers and targets. We collected data using qualitative approaches. We applied content analysis to analyze the collected data.
The research results showed that the suitable participatory learning model to enhance the identity of humanistic health care among students consisted of 5 stages. The 1st stage was job integration to develop the desired characteristic of students. The 2nd stage was development of the participatory learning guideline and format. The 3rd stage was cooperation between the networks. The 4th stage was construction of the learning process for elders. The last stage was strengthening the networks.
This participatory learning model allowed the student to learn, practice, gain direct experience, develop skills, build their good attitudes that enlightened them to be more well-rounded and reflective human beings, and enhanced the students’ ability to deliver humanistic health care.
