Abstract

This survey study aimed to describe the perception and preventative behaviors for the coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) behaviors among personnel in medical operations at Southern Border Provinces Medical Center. Moreover, we also examined the relationship between the perception of chance exposure from work, disease severity, and organizational support for COVID-19 with preventive behaviors in our study population. 59 persons participated in our study via online questionnaires. We measured adequate reliability for our questionnaire, in which coefficient of Cronbach’s alpha was 0.87. We analyzed the data using frequency, percentage, and standard deviation.

The results showed personnel in medical operations at Southern Border Provinces Medical Center have a high degree of understanding of the disease severity and personal disease prevention with mean score of 4.50 (SD= 0.44) and mean score of 4.50 (SD= 0.44), respectively. The subjects who work at headquarters with bachelor’s degree education level and work experience of over 10 years presented higher levels on understanding of the disease severity and personal disease prevention than subjects who worked at separate sections with lower educational attainment and less than 10 years of work experience. The Southern Border Provinces Medical Center should continue to make ongoing preparation and to provide up-to-date personal protection equipment and training for all service levels for personnel in medical operations, especially those that work at separate sections outside of headquarters.
