Abstract

This cross-sectional research study aimed to examine the level of participation in the quality of life development process, compare participation in development process based on personal factors, and develop recommendations from working group in Phanom district, Surat Thani province. The research data were collected between March and May 2020 with 147 participants. The research instrument was composed of 2 parts: 1) personal questionnaires and 2) questionnaires for participation in the quality-of-life development process. The Cohen and Uphoff concept was the underpinning of the questionnaires. Our data analysis included descriptive statistics, a t-test, and One-way ANOVA.

The results revealed that the overall mean level of participation in quality of life development process of working group was at high level (=3.53, SD=0.56). We observed that  participation in problem discovery (=3.67,  SD=0.64) and solving problems with a plan were at high levels  (=3.51, SD=0.60). There were statistically significant differences in the level of the participation in the quality-of-life development for working group in Phanom district, Surat Thani province among the subjects based on gender, duration of duty in quality-of-life development working group, and meeting or training experienced about quality of life development (p<0.05).

Based on these findings, we recommend that the quality-of-life development working group should recruit new staff person who has worked on a continuous duty. The new staff person needs to support providing knowledge and skills before working to participate in the quality-of-life development team. In order to achieve the same target of working team, group members should participate in the quality of life development process at every stage of working to optimize high productivities.
